New Section; - CLUB EVENTS
Change Section: - Kumo Circuits
The club has been in operation for nearly 12 years producing a vast number of National medallists at cadet, junior, senior and veteran level.
The recent sucesses of this club can be seen in our history page. The club is always in touch with the international stage and all its goings on but still manages to keep track and up to date on the Junior and Senior side of things within Great Britain.
We Firmly believe we have the ability as coaches to take you to a high standard within the sport or give you a great weekly workout to keep you fit depending on what you are looking to achieve. As of this past week (27th Feb, 2009) we have just managed to take a boy (Ben Tippett) from the age of 8 to win his 1st Dan Black belt at the age of 15 (the youngest black belt kumo has ever produced). Producing black belts and high standard judokas is not a one off event we have seen these results on a regular basis as each year rolls on.

What is judo?
The japanese word judo roughly translated means the gentle way (although I can assure you I have been involved in many contests that are anything but gentle). It is a fantastic martial art that is accessible to all ages, sexes and abilities whether you want to be an Olympic champion or just lose those few pounds around the edges judo is a great sport for all. The martial sport (a good way to refer to judo) can bolster strength, flexibility, speed, stamina and is an all round great cardiovascular workout.
Why pick judo above other martial arts?
One major factor to pick judo above any other martial art is the obvious fact that it is an Olympic sport which guarantees you a significant sign of good organization from the sports governing body compared to other martial arts organization and the sport is backed by Sport England.
Other reasons: -
* Recognized World events and competitions (Commonwealth games etc)
* Great if you are already involved in other contact sports such as rugby
